Rear Parking Assist System Precautions
- The rear parking assist system may sound inconsistently depending on vehicle speed and the shape of the detected object.
- The rear parking assist system may malfunction if the vehicle bumper height or sensor installation has been changed or damaged. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories may also affect sensor operation.
- The sensor may not detect objects closer than 30 cm (11.8 in.) from the sensor, or it may indicate an incorrect distance. Be careful.
- When the sensor is frozen or covered with snow, dirt, or water, the sensor may not operate until the contamination is removed. Clean with a soft cloth.
- Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor. Damage to the sensor may occur.
✽ NOTICE
This system can only detect objects within the range and location of the sensors; it cannot detect objects in other areas where sensors are not installed. Also, small or thin objects, such as poles or objects located between the sensors, may not be detected.
Always visually check behind the vehicle when backing up.
Be sure to inform drivers of the vehicle who may be unfamiliar with the system about the system's capabilities and limitations.
WARNING
Be especially careful when the vehicle is approaching objects on the road, especially pedestrians, and especially children. Be aware that some objects may not be detected by the sensors due to distance, size, or material, or anything else that may limit sensor effectiveness. Always perform a visual inspection to make sure the vehicle is clear of all obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.
