Driving Your Vehicle

Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW)

~2min read

The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor and warn the driver of approaching vehicles in the driver's blind spot zone.

The system monitors the area behind the vehicle and alerts the driver with an audible signal and indicators on the outside rearview mirrors.

WARNING

  • Always pay attention to road conditions while driving and be prepared for unexpected situations, even when the BCW system is operating.
  • BCW is not a substitute for proper and safe driving. Always drive safely and use caution when changing lanes or driving in reverse. BCW may not detect every object near the vehicle.

(1) Blind spot

The BCW detection range depends on vehicle speed. Note that if your vehicle is traveling much faster than the vehicles around you, the warning will not be displayed.

(2) High-speed closing

The BCW-Closing at High Speed function warns you of an approaching vehicle in the adjacent lane at high speed. If the driver turns on the turn signal when the system detects an approaching vehicle, the system sounds an audible warning. The distance to the approaching vehicle may be displayed differently depending on relative speed.

(3) RCCW (Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning)

The RCCW function monitors approaching traffic from the left and right sides of the vehicle when the vehicle is moving in reverse. The function operates when the vehicle is reversing at speeds below 10 km/h. If approaching traffic is detected, a warning chime will sound. The distance of approaching vehicles may appear differently depending on relative speed.

WARNING

  • Always check road conditions while driving for unexpected situations, even when the BCW (Blind-Spot Collision Warning) system is operating.
  • The BCW (Blind-Spot Collision Warning) system is provided for convenience. Do not rely solely on the system; always pay attention to safe driving.
  • The distance to an approaching vehicle may be inaccurate due to changes in the relative speeds of both vehicles.
