Driving Your Vehicle
Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~2min read

The Lane Keeping Assist system is designed to detect lane markings on the road using the front view camera mounted on the windshield, and assists the driver with steering to help keep the vehicle within its lane.
When the system detects that the vehicle is drifting out of its lane, it warns the driver with a visual and audible warning and applies a small counter-steering torque, attempting to prevent the vehicle from leaving its lane.
WARNING
The Lane Keeping Assist system is a supplementary system and not a substitute for safe driving. The driver must always pay attention and drive safely.
WARNING
- The driver is responsible for being aware of the surroundings and for operating the vehicle safely.
- Do not turn the steering wheel abruptly while the system is steering the steering wheel.
✽ NOTICE
- LKA helps prevent unintentional departure of the vehicle from its lane by assisting the driver in steering. However, the system is only a convenience function and does not always control the steering wheel. While driving, the driver should pay attention to the steering wheel.
- LKA operation may be canceled or may malfunction depending on road and surrounding conditions. Always drive carefully.
- Do not disassemble the front view camera temporarily for window tinting or application of any coatings and accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reassembled, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to check whether the system requires calibration.
- When replacing the windshield, the front view camera, or related steering components, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to check whether the system requires calibration.
- The system detects lane markings and controls the steering wheel using the front view camera, so if the markings are difficult to detect, the system may not operate properly. Always be careful when using the system.
- If the lane markings are difficult to detect, refer to "Driver Attention Warning".
- Do not remove or damage any LKA components.
- Do not place light-reflecting objects, such as mirrors or white paper, on the dashboard. Reflection of sunlight may cause LKA malfunction.
- You may not hear the LKA warning sound due to excessively loud audio sound.
- If you continue driving without holding the steering wheel, LKA will stop controlling the steering wheel after the warning sounds. After that, if you drive while holding the steering wheel, control will be activated again.
- If vehicle speed is high, the steering torque provided for assistance will not be sufficient to keep the vehicle within its lane. In this case, the vehicle may depart from its lane. Observe the speed limit when using LKA.
- If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the system may not be able to assist with steering.
- If you attach any objects to the steering wheel, the hands-off warning may not work properly.
