Components and Component Location

Component Location

1. Intake Actuator

Description and Operation

Description

The intake door actuator is located on the blower unit. It controls the intake door according to the signal from the control unit. Pressing the intake selection switch switches between recirculation and fresh air modes.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Turn the ignition off.

  2. Disconnect the intake actuator connector.

  3. Check that the intake actuator operates in the fresh air position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and ground is applied to terminal 7.

Check that the intake door actuator moves to the recirculation position when the connections are reversed.

    7. Fresh Air
  4. Connect the intake actuator connector.

  5. Turn the ignition on.

  6. Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 5.

    Specification

Door Position Voltage (V) Fault Detection
    Fresh Air 0,5 ± 0,15 Low voltage: 0.1 V or less
    Recirculation 4,5 ± 0,15 High voltage: 4.9 V or more
  7. If the intake actuator does not operate properly, replace it with a known good intake actuator and check operation.

  8. Replace the intake actuator if it is determined that there is a problem with it.

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Remove the driver airbag module assembly.

(See Body — "Main Airbag Assembly")

  3. Disconnect the connector (A), loosen the mounting screws, and remove the automatic anti-fog actuator (B).

  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
