Opening the Trunk

1. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park, for automatic transmission) and set the parking brake.

2. Then perform one of the following:
- Press and hold the trunk unlock button on the remote key or smart key for more than one second.
- Press the button on the trunk itself while carrying the smart key.

• To open the trunk from inside the vehicle, press the trunk lid open button.

✽ NOTICE

In cold and humid climates, the trunk lock and trunk mechanisms may not operate properly due to freezing conditions.

WARNING

The trunk lid swings upward. Make sure there are no objects or people near the rear of the vehicle when opening the trunk.

CAUTION

Make sure to close the trunk before driving the vehicle. The trunk torsion bars and attached equipment may be damaged if the trunk is not closed before driving.

Closing the Trunk

To close, lower the trunk lid, then press down on it until it latches. To make sure the trunk lid is securely closed, always check by attempting to lift it again.

WARNING - Exhaust Gas

The trunk lid must always be fully closed while the vehicle is in motion. If left open or partially open, toxic exhaust gases may enter the vehicle and may cause serious illness or death.

WARNING

Make sure your hands, feet, and other body parts are clear of the trunk before closing it.
