Maintenance

Battery Charging

~1min read

Your vehicle has a maintenance-free, calcium-based battery.

  • If the battery is discharged in a short time (for example, headlights or interior lights were left on while the vehicle was not in use), charge it slowly (trickle charge) for 10 hours.
  • If the battery gradually discharges due to high electrical load while the vehicle is in use, charge it at 20-30 A for two hours.

WARNING

Battery Charging

Observe the following precautions when charging the battery:

  • The battery must be removed from the vehicle and placed in a well-ventilated area.
  • Keep cigarettes, sparks, and open flames away from the battery.
  • Monitor the battery during charging, and stop or reduce the charging rate if the battery cells begin to release excessive gas (boiling) or if the electrolyte temperature in any cell exceeds 49 °C.
  • Wear protective goggles when inspecting the battery during charging.
  • Disconnect the charger in the following order.
    1. Turn off the charger main switch.
    2. Disconnect the negative clamp from the battery negative terminal.
    3. Disconnect the positive clamp from the battery positive terminal.

WARNING

  • Before performing maintenance or charging the battery, turn off all accessories and stop the engine.
  • When disconnecting the battery, the negative battery cable must be removed first and installed last.
