Seat Belt Care
Never disassemble or modify the seat belts. Also, take great care to ensure that the seat belts and related parts are not damaged by interference with the seat hinges or doors, or by other misuse.
WARNING When raising the rear seatback after folding it down, take care not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckle. Make sure the webbing or buckle does not get caught in the rear seat. A seat belt with damaged webbing or buckle may fail to protect the occupant in a sudden braking event or accident. If the webbing or buckles are damaged, replace them immediately.Periodic Inspection All seat belts must be checked periodically for wear or damage of any kind. Any damaged part must be replaced as soon as possible.
Keep Seat Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts must be kept clean and dry at all times. If the belts become dirty, clean them with a solution of lukewarm water and mild soap. Never use stain removers, dyes, harsh or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage and weaken the webbing.
When to Replace Seat Belts All seat belts in use at the time the vehicle was involved in an accident must be replaced.
This must be done even if there is no visible damage. For more information on seat belt operation, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
