If the ignition switch is turned to ON (engine off) while the rear passenger seat belt is not fastened, the corresponding warning light will come on and stay on until the belt is fastened.

The rear seat belt warning light will remain on for approximately 35 seconds if one of the following conditions occurs:

  • The engine is started with the rear seat belt unfastened.
  • The vehicle is driven at a speed above 9 km/h with the rear seat belt unfastened.
  • The rear seat belt is unfastened while driving at a speed below 20 km/h.

If the rear seat belt is fastened, the warning light will go off immediately.

If the rear seat belt is unfastened when the speed is above 20 km/h, the corresponding warning light will flash and the buzzer will sound for 35 seconds.

However, if the rear passenger seat belts are unfastened and refastened within 9 seconds of being fastened for the first time, the corresponding warning lights will not come on.

Height adjustment (front seat) For safety and comfort, the height of the seat belt shoulder anchor point can be adjusted to 4 positions.

The height of the seat belt must be adjusted so that it is not too close to the neck. The shoulder portion must be adjusted so that it crosses the chest and sits over the shoulder, as close as possible to the door and not on the neck.

To adjust the height of the shoulder anchor point of the seat belt, lower or raise the height adjuster until the correct position is found.

To raise the height adjuster, push it upward (1). To lower the height adjuster, push it downward (3) while holding down the release button (2).

Release the button and lock the anchor in position. Try sliding the height adjuster to make sure it is firmly locked in place.

WARNING

  • Make sure the shoulder anchor point of the seat belt is locked at the correct height. Never let the shoulder portion of the seat belt pass over the neck or face. If the seat belts are not positioned correctly, there is a risk of serious injury in an accident.
  • Failure to replace seat belts after an accident may mean wearing damaged belts that would have no effect in a further accident, thereby endangering the lives of the occupants. After an accident, have the seat belts replaced as soon as possible.

Three-point seat belt To fasten the seat belt: To fasten the seat belt, pull it out and insert the metal tongue (1) into the buckle (2). When the tongue latches into the buckle, a "click" can be heard.

After manually adjusting the lap portion so that it fits snugly across the hips, the seat belt automatically tightens correctly. If you lean forward slowly, the belt extends, allowing a certain freedom of movement. However, in the event of an impact or sudden braking, the belt locks the occupant in place. The belt also locks if you lean forward too quickly.

NOTE If you cannot pull the seat belt out of the retractor, pull it firmly and then release it.

Then, pull it out carefully.

WARNING The lap portion of the belt must be worn as low as possible and must fit comfortably across the hips, not the abdomen. If the lap portion of the belt is worn over the abdomen, the risk of injury in an accident increases. The two straps must not both be below or both above the belt. Instead, one must be above and the other below, as shown in the figure. Never wear the seat belt so that it passes under the arm nearest the door.

With a static two-point seat belt, the length must be adjusted manually as needed. Fasten the belt and tighten it by pulling the free end. The belt must be positioned as low as possible, i.e., across the hips and not the abdomen. If the belt is worn too high, the risk of injury in an accident increases.
