Driving
WARNING - EXHAUST GASES CAN BE DANGEROUS! Engine exhaust gases can be extremely dangerous. If you ever smell exhaust gases inside the passenger compartment, open the windows immediately.
- Do not breathe in exhaust gases.
Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas that, if inhaled, can cause loss of consciousness and death.
Check the exhaust system whenever the vehicle is raised on a lift for an oil change or other service. If you notice a change in the exhaust sound, or if the underbody contacts objects on the road surface, have the system checked as soon as possible by an authorized Kia dealer.
Leaving the engine idling in your garage, even with the garage door open, is a dangerous practice. Never leave the engine running in your garage any longer than necessary to start the engine and drive the vehicle out.
If it is necessary to drive with the trunk lid open when carrying bulky items:
- Close all windows.
- Open the side vents.
- Select outside air intake, set the airflow mode to "Floor" or "Face" and the fan to one of the highest speeds.
To ensure proper operation of the ventilation system, make sure the air intake vents located directly in front of the windshield are free of snow, ice, leaves or other debris.
