WARNING - Loose objects Any objects left on the driver's floor may interfere with the operation of the pedals, creating a risk of an accident. Do not place anything under the front seats. WARNING - Returning the seat to upright When returning the seatback to the upright position, guide it so that it moves slowly and make sure no one is nearby. If it is allowed to return on its own without being guided, the seatback could snap forward suddenly, risking personal injury. WARNING - Driver's responsibility toward the front passenger Riding with the seatback reclined can cause serious or even fatal injuries in a collision. During an accident, if the front seatback is reclined, the occupant's pelvis may slide under the lap portion of the seat belt, subjecting the abdomen to strong pressure. This could cause serious or fatal internal injuries. The driver must inform the front passenger that the seatback must be kept upright while the vehicle is moving. WARNING Do not use cushions to reduce friction between the seat and the occupant. In a collision or sudden braking, the occupant's pelvis could slide under the lap portion of the seat belt. This could cause serious or fatal internal injuries, because the seat belt will not function correctly.

WARNING - Driver's seat

  • Never adjust the seat while the vehicle is moving. You could lose control and cause an accident, with the risk of serious or even fatal personal injury and property damage.
  • Do not place anything that could interfere with the normal position of the seatback.

Objects placed against the seatback, or positioned in a way that interferes with the seatback locking correctly, can cause serious or even fatal injuries in sudden braking or a collision.

  • Always drive with the seatback upright and with the lap portion of the seat belt snug and low on the hips. This is the safest position in a collision.
  • To avoid unnecessary risk of injury, including serious injury, caused by the airbag, always sit as far from the steering wheel as possible while still maintaining a position that allows you to control the vehicle easily.
  • It is recommended that there be at least 250 mm between the driver's chest and the steering wheel.

    WARNING - Rear seatback

    • The rear seatback must be securely locked. Otherwise, in a collision or sudden braking, occupants could be thrown forward, with the risk of death or serious injury.
    • Luggage and any transported items must be placed flat in the luggage compartment. Large, heavy or stacked items must be securely fastened. The cargo must never extend above the height of the seatbacks. Failure to observe these warnings could be fatal in sudden braking, a collision or a vehicle rollover.
    • While driving, there must be no passengers in the luggage compartment, nor passengers sitting or lying on folded-down seatbacks.

All passengers must remain properly seated and secured to their seats by their seat belts.

  • When returning the seatback to the upright position, make sure it is securely locked by pushing it forward and backward.
  • To avoid the risk of burns, do not remove the carpet from the luggage compartment floor.
  • The exhaust system under this area of the floor generates very high temperatures. WARNING After adjusting the seat position, always check that the seat is securely locked in place by trying to push it forward and backward without operating the release lever. A sudden, unexpected movement of the seat could cause loss of vehicle control and an accident.

    WARNING

    • Do not place the cigarette lighter on the carpet or on the seat. Operating the seat could cause gas to escape and cause a fire.
    • Take care that your hands or other objects do not get caught in the seat mechanisms while the seat is moving.
    • If passengers are seated in the rear seats, take care when adjusting the front seat.
    • Use extreme caution when trying to retrieve small objects that have fallen under the seats or between the seat and the center console.

You could injure your hands on the sharp edges of the seat mechanism.
