What to Do in an Emergency

Introduction

With the Tire Mobility Kit (TMK), you can remain mobile even after experiencing a tire puncture.

The compressor and sealant system effectively and conveniently seals most punctures in the passenger tire caused by nails or similar objects, and inflates the tire.

After you have confirmed that the tire is properly sealed, you may drive carefully for up to 200 km (120 miles) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h in order to contact a dealer or tire shop to have the tire replaced.

It is possible that some tires, especially those with large punctures or sidewall damage, cannot be fully sealed. Loss of air pressure in the tire may adversely affect tire performance.

For this reason, avoid sudden steering or other driving maneuvers, especially if the vehicle is heavily loaded or towing a trailer. The TMK is not designed or intended as a permanent tire repair method and should be used for one tire only.

This procedure shows you step by step how to temporarily seal a puncture simply and reliably.

Read the "Safety Notes for Using the Tire Mobility Kit" on page 7-33.

WARNING

Do not use the TMK if the tire is severely damaged as a result of driving in a flat or under-inflated condition. Only punctures located within the tread area of the tire can be sealed with the TMK.
