Head restraints (if equipped) For the safety and comfort of occupants, all rear seats are equipped with head restraints.

Head restraints are not only for passenger comfort; they also protect the head and neck in the event of an accident.

WARNING

  • To provide maximum protection in the event of an accident, adjust the head restraint so that the center of the occupant's head is level with the horizontal center of the head restraint.
Generally, the center of the head should be level with the top of the eyes. Also, adjust the head restraint as close to the head as possible. For this reason, using cushions to move your back away from the seatback is not recommended.
  • Do not drive without the head restraints, as occupants would be exposed to the risk of serious injury in an accident. When properly adjusted, head restraints provide effective neck protection.

Removal and installation (if equipped) To remove the head restraint, raise it as far as possible, then press the release button (1) while pulling it upward (2).

To reinstall the head restraint, insert the head restraint posts (3) into the holes while pressing the release button (1).

Then adjust it to the proper height.

WARNING Make sure the head restraint locks in position once it has been properly adjusted so that it protects the occupants.

Rear seat folding (if equipped) The rear seatbacks (or cushions) can be folded down to make it easier to transport long items or to increase luggage capacity.

WARNING The purpose of seats with folding seatbacks (or cushions) is to allow the transport of long objects that would not otherwise fit in the standard luggage compartment.

Do not allow passengers to sit on folded seatbacks while driving. This is an improper seating position and does not allow the use of seat belts. In this case, they could suffer serious or fatal injuries in the event of an accident or sudden braking. Items carried on the folded seatback must not extend above the height of the front seats.

Otherwise, in the event of sudden braking, the load could slide forward and injure the occupants of the front seats.

To fold down the cushion and seatback of the rear seat: The rear seatbacks can be folded down to obtain greater cargo capacity.

    • To raise the seatback, lift it and push it firmly until it locks.
    • When returning the seatback to its original position, reposition the rear seat belts so that they can be used.
WARNING Do not fold down the rear seat if there is not enough space to do so without interfering with the driver's position. This could be dangerous in the event of sudden braking or a collision.

    1. Set the front seatback upright and, if necessary, slide the front seat forward.

    WARNING

    • When lowering or raising the rear seat, be sure to move the front seat fully forward. If there is not enough space to lower the seat, do not force it, as you could damage the head restraint and related parts or components of the seat.
    • Before using the seat belt, make sure it has been removed from the holder.
If the seat belt is pulled while still in its holder, the belt or the holder could be damaged.
  • Use the holder only when there are no passengers in the rear seat or when it is necessary to fold down the rear seatback.
  • 2. Insert the metal tongue of the rear seat belt into the holder to prevent the belt from being damaged.

WARNING Do not fold down the rear seat if there is not enough space to do so without interfering with the driver's position, as this could be dangerous in the event of sudden braking or a collision.

To return the seatback to its original position:

    1. Lift the seatback and push it firmly backward until it locks.
    2. Move and push the seat cushion down firmly to seat it in place.
    3. Return the rear seat belt to the correct position.
WARNING When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after folding it down: Take care not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckle. Make sure the seat belt webbing or buckle does not become trapped in the rear seat.

Make sure the seatback is securely locked in the upright position by applying pressure to its upper part.

Otherwise, in the event of an accident or sudden braking, the seatback could collapse and allow cargo to enter the passenger compartment, seriously endangering the occupants. WARNING - Rear seat belt buckle damage When folding down the rear seatback, insert the buckle between the rear seatback and the seat cushion. This will prevent the buckle from being damaged by the seatback. WARNING - Rear seat belts When returning the seatback to its original position, make sure to return the rear seat belt to the correct position. CAUTION - Luggage Luggage must always be properly secured to prevent it from being thrown into the passenger compartment and injuring occupants in the event of an accident. Do not place items on the rear seats that cannot be properly secured, as they could strike the front seat occupants in the event of an accident. CAUTION - Loading luggage When loading or unloading luggage, make sure the engine is off, the transmission is in P (Park), and the parking brake is applied. If these precautions are not taken, the vehicle could move if the gear selector lever is moved inadvertently.
