Components and Component Location

Component Location

1. Temperature Control Actuator

Description and Operation

Description

  1. The heater unit includes the mode control actuator and the temperature control actuator.
  2. The temperature control actuator is located on the heater unit. It controls the temperature as follows. A signal from the control unit adjusts the position of the temperature door through the operating temperature switch, and the temperature is then controlled by the ratio of hot/cold air determined by the position of the temperature door.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Ignition switch OFF
  2. Disconnect the temperature control actuator connector.
  3. Check that the temperature control actuator moves to the hot position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and terminal 4 is grounded. Make sure the temperature control actuator operates to the cool position when connections are reversed.

    Max. Cool 0.3 ± 0.15 V Low voltage: 0.1 V or less
High voltage: 4.9 V or more
    Max. Heat 4.7 ± 0.15 V

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the temperature control actuator (B) after loosening the mounting screws.
  3. Install in the reverse order of removal.
