Repair Procedures

Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - Engine Cover)
  3. Drain the engine coolant. (Refer to Cooling System — Engine Coolant)
  4. Disconnect the upper radiator hose (A).
  5. Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
  6. Disconnect the water hose (A).
  7. Disconnect the wiring connectors and wire harness clamps. Then remove the connector brackets around the water temperature control assembly.
  8. Remove the water temperature control valve (A) with the gasket (B).

    Tightening torque: 19.6–26 N·m

  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  10. Fill the engine coolant. (Refer to Cooling System - "Engine Coolant").
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  12. Recheck the engine coolant level.
