Checking the Brake/Clutch Fluid Level

~1min read
Kia Soul. Checking the brake/clutch fluid level

Check the fluid level in the reservoir periodically. The fluid level should be between the MAX and MIN marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and adding brake/clutch fluid, thoroughly clean the area around the reservoir cap to prevent contamination of the brake/clutch fluid.

If the level is low, add fluid up to the MAX level. The level will drop as mileage accumulates. This is normal and related to brake pad wear.

If the fluid level is too low, have the system inspected at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

Use only the specified brake fluid. (Refer to "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" on pages 9-11.)

Never mix different types of fluid.

WARNING

Brake/Clutch Fluid Leak

If the brake/clutch system requires frequent fluid addition, have the system inspected at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

WARNING

Brake/Clutch Fluid

Handle brake fluid/clutch fluid with care when replacing or adding it. Do not allow it to contact your eyes. If brake fluid/clutch fluid gets into the eyes, immediately flush them with plenty of clean tap water. Have your eyes examined by a doctor as soon as possible.

CAUTION

Do not allow brake/clutch fluid to contact the vehicle body paint, as it will damage the paint. Brake/clutch fluid that has been exposed to air for an extended period should never be used, as its quality cannot be guaranteed. Dispose of it properly. Do not fill with an unsuitable fluid. A few drops of mineral-based oil, such as engine oil, in the brake/clutch system can damage the brake/clutch system parts.
