Child Restraint System (CRS)

~2min read

Our recommendation: children always in the rear

WARNING

Always properly restrain children in the vehicle. Children of all ages are safer when riding in the rear seat. Never install a rear-facing child restraint in the front passenger seat unless the airbag is turned off.

Children under the age of 13 should always ride in the rear seats and must always be properly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in a collision, sudden stop, or sudden maneuver.

According to accident statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seat than in the front seat. Children who are too large for a child restraint system must use the vehicle's seat belts.

In most countries, laws require that children travel in approved child restraint systems.

Laws governing the age or height/weight limits at which seat belts may be used instead of a child restraint system vary between countries. Therefore, you should be aware of the specific requirements in your country and where you are travelling.

Child restraint systems must be properly installed on the vehicle seat. Always use a commercially available child restraint system that meets the requirements of your country.

Child Restraint System (CRS)

Infants and small children must be secured in a rear-facing or forward-facing child restraint system (CRS) that is properly installed on the vehicle seat. Read and follow the installation and use instructions provided by the child restraint manufacturer.

WARNING

  • Always follow the child restraint manufacturer's instructions for installation and use.
  • Always secure the child properly in the child restraint system.
  • Do not use a car bed or child safety seat that "hooks" over the seatbacks; it may not provide proper protection in a crash.
  • After an accident, have the system inspected at a qualified workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
