SRS Care
In this manual: Safety Features of Your Vehicle
~1min read
The SRS requires virtually no maintenance, so there are no parts that can be safely serviced by the owner. If the SRS airbag warning light does not illuminate or remains on continuously, have the system inspected at a qualified service shop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
WARNING
- Modification of SRS components or wiring, including adding any emblems to the pad covers or modifying the vehicle body structure, may adversely affect SRS operation and may result in possible injury.
- To clean the airbag cover pads, use only a soft dry cloth or one dampened with plain water. Solvents or cleaning agents may adversely affect the airbag covers and the proper deployment of the system.
- Do not place any objects over or near the airbag modules on the steering wheel, instrument panel, and front passenger panel above the glove box, because any such object can cause injury if the vehicle is involved in a collision severe enough to deploy the airbags.
- If the airbags have deployed, have the system replaced by a qualified service shop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
- Do not tamper with or disconnect the SRS wiring or other SRS components. This may result in injury from accidental airbag deployment or by disabling the SRS.
- If airbag system components must be disposed of, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, certain precautions must be observed. An authorized Kia dealer knows these precautions and can provide you with the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions and procedures may increase the risk of personal injury.
- If your vehicle has been flooded and the carpeting is wet or water has entered the floor, do not attempt to start the engine; have your vehicle inspected at a qualified service shop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
