When Problems Occur. Essential Information

Press the switch.

If Your Vehicle Must Be Stopped in an Emergency

If it is not possible to stop the vehicle normally in an emergency, proceed as follows:

   Keep the brake pedal firmly depressed with both feet without interruption.

   Never pump the brake pedal repeatedly, as this increases the effort required to stop the vehicle.

   Shift the shift/selector lever to "N".

   When the shift/selector lever has been moved to "N"

   After reducing speed, stop the vehicle at a safe location beside the road.

   Turn the engine off.

   If the shift/selector lever cannot be moved to "N"

   Keep the brake pedal firmly depressed with both feet to reduce speed as much as possible.

   To stop the engine, press and hold the engine switch for at least 2 seconds without interruption, or press it briefly 3 or more times in succession.

   Stop the vehicle at a safe location beside the road.

WARNING

■If the engine must be turned off while driving

In this case, the brake booster and power steering will no longer operate. As a result, the brake pedal is harder to press and more effort is required to turn the steering wheel. Brake as much as possible before turning off the engine.
