Trunk Lid

WARNING

Never allow anyone to sit in the trunk:

Allowing a person to sit in the trunk is dangerous.

A person sitting in the trunk may be seriously or fatally injured in the event of sudden braking or a collision.

Do not drive with the trunk lid open:

Exhaust gas entering the vehicle interior is dangerous.

If the trunk lid is open while the vehicle is moving, exhaust gas can enter the passenger compartment. This gas contains carbon monoxide (CO), which is colorless, odorless and extremely harmful to health. It can cause loss of consciousness and death. In addition, an open trunk lid may cause passengers to fall out of the vehicle in the event of an accident.

WARNING

• When loading or unloading luggage into the trunk, turn off the engine. Otherwise, you could be burned by the heat of the exhaust gases.
• When opening the trunk lid, always open it fully. If you open the trunk lid only partially, it may close suddenly due to vibration or wind gusts and cause injury.

Opening and closing the trunk lid

Opening the trunk lid using the power trunk opener (with advanced remote function)

A locked trunk lid can also be opened while the driver is carrying the key.

Press the power trunk opener, then lift the trunk lid when the latch is released.

When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the trunk lid can only be opened when the vehicle is stopped.

NOTE

• When opening the trunk lid using the remote function, unlocking the lid may take several seconds after the power trunk opener is pressed.
• The trunk lid can be closed when the doors are locked using a key left inside the vehicle. However, to avoid leaving the key inside the vehicle, the trunk lid can be opened by pressing the power trunk opener.

Press the unlock button.

When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the trunk lid can only be opened when the vehicle is stopped.

Closing the trunk lid

To close, gently lower the trunk lid using the trunk lid handle recess, then push the trunk lid closed with both hands.

Do not slam it. Pull the trunk lid upward to make sure it is securely latched.

Trunk light

The trunk light comes on when the lid is open and turns off when it is closed.

NOTE

To prevent the battery from discharging, do not leave the trunk open for long periods with the engine off.
