Power Sunroof
The power sunroof can only be opened or closed electrically when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

WARNING
Do not allow passengers to stand up or put any part of their body out of the sunroof opening while the vehicle is moving:
Putting your head, arms or any other part of your body out of the sunroof opening is dangerous. A head or arms may be struck by an object while the vehicle is moving. This may result in death or serious injury.
Make sure nothing is in the path of the sunroof before closing it:
A closing sunroof is dangerous. Hands, head or even a person's neck, especially children, may get caught during closing and suffer serious injury or death.
NOTE
Before washing the vehicle, make sure the sunroof is fully closed so that water does not enter the passenger compartment.
After washing your Mazda or after it has rained, wipe off any water that has collected on the sunroof before opening it to prevent water from entering, which may cause rust or damage the headliner.

Power Sunroof Reset Procedure
If the battery is disconnected, the sunroof will not operate.
The sunroof will not operate correctly until it has been reset. Perform the following procedure to reset the sunroof and resume operation:
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Press the tilt switch, or partially open by tilting the rear of the sunroof.
- Repeat step 2. The rear of the sunroof tilts open to the fully open position, then closes slightly.
NOTE
If the reset procedure is performed while the sunroof is in the slide position (partially open), the roof will close before the rear tilts open.
Sunroof with Safety Feature
If a hand, a person's head or another object blocks the sunroof during automatic closing, the sunroof will stop and open halfway.
WARNING
Make sure nothing blocks the sunroof just before it closes completely:
Blocking the sunroof just before it closes completely is dangerous.
In this case, the safety feature cannot prevent the sunroof from closing. If fingers are caught, serious injury may result.
NOTE
- Depending on driving conditions, a closing sunroof may stop and begin to open if the sunroof senses a shock similar to an object blocking it.
- The sunroof safety feature cannot be used while the sunroof is being initialized.
Sun Shade
The sun shade can be opened and closed manually.
The sun shade opens automatically when the sunroof is opened, but it must be closed manually.

WARNING
- The sun shade does not tilt. To avoid damaging it, do not push it.
- Do not close the sun shade while the sunroof is opening. Forcing the sun shade closed may damage it.
