Important Safety Notes
For United Kingdom only:
WARNINGIf the additional door lock is activated, the doors cannot be opened from the inside. If people are inside the vehicle, they cannot get out, e.g. in an emergency. Risk of injury!
Never leave people, especially children, older people or people requiring assistance, unattended in the vehicle. Do not activate the additional door lock when people are inside the vehicle.
When the vehicle is locked from the outside, the additional door lock is activated by default. The doors then cannot be opened from the inside. You can deactivate the additional door lock by deactivating the interior protection . The doors can then be opened from the inside after the vehicle has been locked from the outside.
Opening the doors from the inside triggers the anti-theft alarm system. Switch off alarm .
For all countries:
WARNINGIf you leave children unattended in the vehicle, they can
- open the doors and thereby endanger other persons or road users
- get out and be hit by traffic
- operate vehicle equipment and, for example, trap themselves.
- releasing the parking brake
- shifting the automatic transmission out of the P (Park) position or shifting the manual transmission into neutral
- starting the engine.
There is a risk of accident and injury!
Always take the key with you when leaving the vehicle and lock the vehicle. Never leave children or animals unattended in the vehicle. Keep the key out of reach of children.
WARNINGIf you attach heavy or large objects to the key, the key can turn unintentionally in the ignition lock while driving. This can, for example, switch off the engine. Risk of accident!
Do not attach heavy or large objects to the key. For example, remove a large key ring before inserting the key into the ignition lock.
NOTE
Keep the key away from strong magnetic fields. Otherwise the remote control function could be damaged.
Strong magnetic fields can occur, for example, near high-power electrical equipment.
Do not store the key
- with electronic devices, such as a mobile phone or another key
- with metal objects, such as coins or metal foil
- inside metal objects, such as a metal case.
This can impair the function of the key.

KEYLESS-GO
General Notes
Note that the engine can be started by any vehicle occupant if a key with KEYLESS-GO is in the vehicle.
Lock and unlock centrally
With KEYLESS-GO, you can lock or unlock your vehicle and start it. To do so, carry the key with you. You can combine the functions of KEYLESS-GO with those of a conventional key. For example, unlock the vehicle with KEYLESS-GO and lock it with the button
on the key.
When locking or unlocking with KEYLESS-GO, the distance between the key and the relevant door handle must not exceed 1 m.
A brief radio connection between the vehicle and the key checks whether a valid key is in or on the vehicle. This happens e.g. when- when touching the outside door handles
- during engine start
- while driving.

Unlocking the vehicle: Touch the inside surface of the door handle.
Lock vehicle: Touch the sensor surface
Comfort locking: Touch and hold the recessed sensor surface
for a long time.

Unlock trunk lid/tailgate: Pull the handle of the trunk lid/tailgate.Deactivating and activating
If you do not use a key for an extended period, you can deactivate the KEYLESS-GO function of the key. The key then draws very little power, which conserves the battery. The vehicle does not need to be nearby to activate or deactivate it.
Deactivating: Press the button
Activating: Press any button on the key or insert the key into the ignition lock.
