Side airbags
These are airbags built into the front seats, which deploy on their outer side (towards the doors). They are designed to protect occupants in the event of a severe side impact.
Depending on the vehicle version, the marking on the windscreen indicates that additional restraint systems (airbags, seat belt pretensioners, etc.) are fitted in the cabin. Recommendation for the side airbag- Seat covers: on seats equipped with side airbags, only seat covers specifically designed for the given vehicle type may be fitted. Contact an Authorised Brand Partner to check whether such covers are available. Using covers of a different type (or designed for another vehicle type) may impair the correct operation of the airbags and reduce occupant safety.
- No objects or animals should be placed between the seat backrest, the door and the interior trim. Do not cover the seat backrest with items such as clothing or accessories. This could impair the correct operation of the side airbag or cause injury if it deploys.
- Removing or modifying the seat and upholstery is prohibited, except when carried out by an Authorised Brand Partner.
- The grooves in the front seat backrests (on the door side) mark the airbag deployment area: do not insert any objects into them.
