Air conditioning: information and usage tips

~1min read

Fuel consumption

A increase in fuel consumption (especially in urban driving) is normal when the air conditioning is in use.

On vehicles fitted with air conditioning without automatic mode, switch the system off when you no longer need it.

Tips to minimise fuel consumption and help protect the environment

Drive with the vents open and the windows closed.

If the vehicle has been parked in full heat or sunlight, ventilate the cabin for a few minutes to expel hot air before starting.

Maintenance

Refer to your vehicle's maintenance document for inspection intervals.

Operating faults

In general, if an operating fault occurs, consult a brand representative.

  • Reduced defrosting, demisting or air conditioning performance. This may be caused by a clogged cabin filter cartridge.
  • No cold air produced. Check that the controls are correctly set and that the fuses are in good condition. Otherwise, stop operating the system.

Note

Water under the vehicle.

After prolonged use of the air conditioning, it is normal to find water under the vehicle, caused by condensation.

! Do not open the refrigerant circuit. Refrigerant is hazardous to the eyes and skin.
