Checking the seat belt pretensioner circuits on a control unit without airbag function

INSTRUCTIONS None

With the ignition off, disconnect the control unit connector and fit the XRBAG 30-way adapter.

Switch on the ignition and check the control unit power supply voltage between the terminals marked earth and + APC.

Take the necessary steps to obtain a voltage between 10.5 V and 16 V.

You must use the XRBAG tool to measure resistance and carry out short-to-positive and short-to-earth tests on cables D and E marked on the adapter.

If the values obtained on both circuits are correct, there is no fault in the seat belt pretensioner circuits. Reconnect the control unit.

If any value obtained is incorrect, check the connections at the 30-way connector (pins 3/4 for cable D and 1/2 for cable E) and replace the wiring if necessary.

You must use the XRBAG tool to measure resistance and carry out short-to-positive and short-to-earth tests at point C1 of the faulty pretensioner (cable D: passenger, cable E: driver).

If all values obtained are correct, replace the wiring between points C0 and C1, then repeat the test at the adapter to check the repair.

You must use the XRBAG tool to measure resistance and carry out short-to-positive and short-to-earth tests at point C3 (pretensioner igniter).

If all values obtained are correct, replace the wiring between points C1 and C3 (seat wiring), then repeat the test at the adapter to check the repair.

If any value at C3 is incorrect, replace the seat belt pretensioner, then repeat the test at the adapter to check the repair.

AFTER REPAIR Destroy the pretensioner(s) if any were replaced (tool Elé. 1287).
