Petrol engines

It is advisable to check the fuel pump flow rate through the fuel return hose connected to the pump-gauge assembly.

IMPORTANT
During this procedure, it is essential to:
- not smoke or bring any hot or glowing object near the work area,
- protect yourself from fuel spray caused by the residual pressure in the lines when disconnecting them.
FUEL PUMP FLOW RATE CHECK
Disconnect the fuel return line (1) (Mot. 1265).
Connect a length of line to the hose and place its end in a 0-2,000 ml graduated cylinder.
Bridge terminals (3) and (5) of the DF7 engine (K) and E7J engine (L) fuel pump relay (located in the engine fuse box). Within one minute, at a voltage of 12 volts, the pump flow rate must be at least 1.3 litres.

If the flow rate is low, check the pump supply voltage (a flow loss of about 10% occurs for each 1-volt drop in voltage).
