Fuel pump/level sender

IMPORTANT:
When working on the fuel tank or the fuel supply circuit, it is essential to:
- do not smoke and do not bring any hot object near the work area,
- protect yourself against fuel spray caused by the residual pressure in the lines when disconnecting them.
REMOVAL
Removing the fuel pump/level sender assembly does not require removing the tank. It is accessible from inside the vehicle, as follows:
- disconnect the battery,
- raise the rear seat,
- remove the steel cover plug,
- disconnect the electrical connector (1),
- remove the clips (2).

Disconnect, using pliers Mot. 1265 or Mot. 1265-01:
- the fuel supply line (3) (identified by a green quick-release fitting),
- the fuel return line (4) (identified by a red quick-release fitting and an arrow (B)).

Remove the retaining nut (5) using tool Mot. 1264 or 1264-01 (loosen the nut, remove the tool, unscrew the nut by hand, then remove it).
Remove the fuel pump/level sender assembly.

NOTE: if several hours will pass between removing and refitting the fuel pump/level sender assembly, screw the nut back onto the tank to prevent distortion.
INSTALLATION
Check that the seal is not damaged; replace it if necessary.
Position the fuel pump/level sender assembly (the arrow (F) must be aligned with the vehicle's longitudinal axis, pointing towards the rear).
Position the nut and tighten it to a torque of 3.5 daN.m.
Click the fuel lines into place (it is not necessary to use pliers Mot. 1265 or Mot. 1265-01).
Refit the safety clips (2).
Reconnect the electrical connector.
Refit the steel cover plate.
