General information
The complete exhaust line is made of stainless steel.
The catalytic converter reaches high temperatures; do not park near combustible materials that could catch fire.
WARNING- Replace any damaged heat shield without fail.
- The seal from the exhaust manifold mating face up to and including the catalytic converter must be perfect.
- Always replace all gaskets that have been removed.
- During removal and refitting, the catalytic converter must not be subjected to mechanical shocks, otherwise it may be damaged.
EXHAUST LINE SPECIFICS
1 - Cutting the exhaust line
Exhaust lines are of the one-piece type.
When replacing one of the components, the exhaust line must be cut.
It is essential to:
- clearly mark the cutting area,
- use the cutting tool correctly (Mot. 1199-01),
- correctly position the aftermarket sleeve.
2 - Marking the cutting zone
Two punch marks made on the exhaust pipe define the cutting zone (Exhaust chapter, Exhaust general information, page 19B-4).
Cutting zone 1

Cutting zone 2

Before cutting the pipe, mark the midpoint (D) between the two marks (P1) and (P2).
The distance between the two marks is 80 mm.
3 - Using tool Mot. 1199-01

Fit the tool onto the pipe.
Tighten the two tool screws so that the cutting wheel presses against the pipe.
Turn the cutting wheel using the handle, bearing against the pipe.
As the cut progresses, retighten the two tool screws (do not overtighten the tool on the pipe, so as to cut without deforming it).
4 - Specifics of the replacement part

When replacing the intermediate section of the exhaust line (pipe on Diesel versions, resonator on Petrol versions), the replacement part must be shortened by 60 mm.
5 - Positioning the aftermarket sleeve
To prevent any exhaust leak, it is important to position the sleeve correctly on the two lugs.
Position the sleeve on the old section of the line.
Adjust the clamp diameter by tightening it slightly.

Position the sleeve against the stop on the old section of the line.
Adjust the sleeve diameter by tightening it slightly.
Apply exhaust sealant inside the sleeve.

Fit the new component.
Note: Orient the "bolt - sleeve clamp nut" assembly to avoid any risk of contact with the underbody. The clamp nut (1) has a groove to ensure correct tightening torque.
When tightening, a distinct click indicates that the torque of 2.5 daN.m has been reached.
WARNING Do not reuse a used clamp.
