IMPORTANT

In the stored contexts of DF002, if PR143 equals 105, 65 or 110 (decimal), contact your Techline.

This fault, together with any of these values, is irreversible.

INSTRUCTIONS

Handling priorities when multiple faults are present: This fault must be dealt with first in this multiple-fault case.

Conditions for applying the diagnosis on a stored fault: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned lock to lock.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Switch the ignition back on.

Clear the stored faults.

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the diagnosis on a stored fault: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned lock to lock.

Check the condition and value of the power supply fuses (battery and ignition-switched +) of the electric power steering ECU.

Replace if necessary.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

Check the battery voltage and the charging circuit.

Repair if necessary.

If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

Clear the stored faults.

DF033 PRESENT OR STORED MULTIPLEX NETWORK

DEF: CAN link fault

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the diagnosis on a stored fault: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned lock to lock.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

Check the insulation, continuity and absence of parasitic resistance of the harness between the variable-assist steering ECU and the cabin central unit (refer to the wiring diagrams for the vehicle type): repair if necessary.

Black 8-way connector pin 5 → Cabin central unit
Black 8-way connector pin 7 → Cabin central unit

Replace the harness if necessary.

Check the insulation, continuity and absence of parasitic resistance of the harness between the variable-assist steering ECU and the instrument panel (refer to the wiring diagrams for the vehicle type): repair if necessary.

8-way black connector pin 4 → Instrument panel
8-way black connector pin 6 → Instrument panel

Replace the harness if necessary.

Apply the multiplex network diagnosis procedure.
If the fault persists, contact your Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Deal with any other faults.

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Switch the ignition back on.

Clear the stored faults.

DF035 PRESENT OR STORED VARIABLE-ASSIST STEERING MOTOR

DEF: Open circuit or internal electronic fault

INSTRUCTIONS

Priority in case of multiple faults: Deal with fault “DF020 ECU power supply” first if it is present or stored.

Perform a steering wheel angle learn by running command CF08
If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Deal with any other faults.

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Switch the ignition back on.

Clear the stored faults.

DF038 PRESENT OR STORED ANGLE SENSOR

DEF: Inconsistency

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the stored fault diagnosis: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned from lock to lock, then returned to centre.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

If fault DF038 is present, check the stored contexts. If parameter PR121 is not between -680 and 680, the steering angle sensor learn was not performed correctly because the steering wheel was not in the centre position with the wheels straight ahead.

Repeat procedure CF085, and check for faults again.

If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

After repair, start the vehicle and check whether parameter PR121 changes when the steering wheel is turned.

Deal with any other faults.

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Clear the stored faults.

Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, slowly return it to centre, and check that there are no faults.

DF053 PRESENT OR STORED ECU CONFIGURATION

DEF: Incorrect vehicle configuration

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the stored fault diagnosis: The fault is declared present after the engine is running.

Conditions for applying the stored fault diagnosis: The fault is declared present after the engine is running.
Reconfigure the ECU to match the vehicle equipment and type.
If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Clear the stored faults.

Confirm the configuration programmed previously.

DF054 PRESENT OR STORED TORQUE SENSOR

DEF: Internal electronic fault in sensor

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the stored fault diagnosis: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned from lock to lock, then returned to centre.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.
