Rear Parking Assist System

The Rear Parking Assist System helps the driver when reversing. The system alerts the driver with an audible warning if an object is detected within 50 inches (120 cm) behind the vehicle.
This system is a supplementary system that detects objects within its detection range and sensor locations. It cannot detect objects in areas where sensors are not installed.
WARNING
- ALWAYS inspect your vehicle to make sure there are no objects or obstacles before moving in any direction to prevent a collision.
- Always pay special attention when the vehicle is moving near objects, especially pedestrians, and especially children.
- Be aware that some objects may not be displayed on the screen or detected by the sensors due to the distance, size, or material of the objects, all of which may limit sensor effectiveness.
Rear Parking Assist System Operation
Operating Condition
- This system is activated when reversing with the ignition switch in the ON position. However, if the vehicle speed exceeds 3 mph (5 km/h), the system may not detect objects.
- If the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h, the system will not warn you even if objects are detected.
- When more than two objects are detected at the same time, the nearest objects will be recognized first.
Types of Warning Sound and Indicator

NOTICE
- The indicator may differ from the illustration because of the position of objects or sensors. If the indicator flashes, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If the audible warning does not sound, or the buzzer sounds intermittently when shifting into R (Reverse), there may be a malfunction in the Parking Assist System. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.

Parking Assist System Non-Operating Conditions
The rear parking assist system may not operate properly if:
- Moisture has frozen on the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with foreign substances such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked.
The Rear Parking Assist System may malfunction when:
- Driving on uneven road surfaces such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or grades.
- Objects producing excessive noise, such as vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes, may interfere with the sensor.
- Heavy rain or water spray is present.
- Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are located near the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with snow.
- Non-genuine equipment or accessories have been installed, or the bumper height or sensor installation has been changed.
The detection range may decrease if:
- The outside air temperature is very hot or cold.
- Undetectable objects smaller than 40 in. (1 m) in height and 6 in. (14 cm) in diameter.
The sensor may not detect the following objects:
- Sharp or thin objects, such as ropes, chains, or small poles.
- Objects that can absorb the sensor frequency, such as clothing, spongy material, or snow.
NOTICE
The sensor may not detect objects within 12 inches (30 cm) of the sensor, or it may display an incorrect distance.
NOTICE
Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor with hard objects, as this may damage the sensor surface. Damage to the sensor may occur.
WARNING
The new vehicle warranty does not cover accidents, vehicle damage, or passenger injuries related to the Rear Parking Assist System. Always drive safely and carefully.
