The fuel filler cap is located at the rear of the vehicle, on the left side. There are two types of caps. One type opens by turning the key clockwise and closes by turning it counterclockwise. The other type opens by pulling the lever located next to the driver's seat on the door side, and closes by pressing it shut.

WARNING Open the fuel filler cap slowly. Fuel may be under pressure and spray out, posing a health hazard.

WARNING Gasoline is extremely flammable. Do not smoke while refueling, and make sure there are no open flames or sparks nearby.

Type 1

The fuel filler cap is removed by turning it counterclockwise.

Type 2

The fuel filler cap has a ratchet mechanism, the so-called "click".

  • Removing - turn counterclockwise. Turn slowly to allow the pressure to equalize.
  • Installing - turn clockwise until you hear the "click" of the ratchet. The ratchet action indicates that the cap is installed correctly.
NOTICE If the fuel filler cap needs to be replaced, use only a cap designed for this model. Using an incorrect cap may cause serious malfunction of the fuel system or of the emissions control system. A correct replacement cap can be obtained from a service station.
