Removal and Installation of Hood Lock Cable

~1min read

Removal

  • · Open the hood. For better access, remove the radiator grille.
  • · Remove the three bolts and remove the lock from the cross panel.
  • · Disconnect the end of the cable from the lock lever. Remove the lock.
  • · Release the cable from the clips in the engine compartment.
  • · From inside the cabin at the driver's position, remove the screws securing the lower trim panel under the instrument panel and remove the panel.
  • · Remove the screws and remove the hood lock cable from the trim panel. Release the cable from the clips on the bulkhead.
  • · Note the cable routing and release it from all clips in the engine compartment, then pull the cable through the rubber grommet in the bulkhead into the cabin. On some models, some components may need to be moved aside to access the cable. For ease of installation, tie a piece of wire to the cable and pull it into the cabin together with the cable. In the cabin, untie the wire and leave it in place until the cable is needed.

Installation

· Install in the reverse order of removal. Use the wire left in place to pull the cable into the engine compartment. Make sure the bulkhead grommet is securely seated. Route the cable as it was before disassembly and secure it with all provided clips. Finally, check the lock operation.
