Brake Pedal Inspection and Adjustment - Pedal Travel Reserve

~1min read

  • · Place chocks under the rear wheels, release the parking brake and start the engine.
  • · Depress the brake pedal several times, then press it fully down with maximum force and hold it in this position.
  • · Measure the distance from the brake pedal rubber pad to the floor under the pedal. This is the pedal free travel. Compare this value with the specification in the Technical Data (70 mm without ABS, 65 mm with ABS).
  • · If the pedal free travel is less than specified, check the rear brake adjustment and the length of the vacuum booster pushrod. If the brake pedal sinks slowly, there is air in the system. Bleed the air from the system.
  • · After all checks and adjustments are complete, install the air duct and the lower under cover.
