Front Brake Discs - Removal, Installation

~1min read

Removal

  • · Chock the rear wheels, raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support it on stands. Remove the front wheels.
  • · Push back the caliper piston by pulling the caliper outward by hand.
  • · Remove the two bolts securing the caliper support bracket to the steering knuckle. Remove the bracket together with the caliper and pads, and suspend the assembly from the suspension spring, taking care not to kink or pinch the brake hose.
  • · Mark the position of the disc relative to the hub, remove the wheel nuts temporarily installed for checking disc runout, and remove the disc. Installation · Make sure the mating surfaces of the disc and hub are clean. When installing a new disc, wipe off the protective coating with methyl alcohol.
  • · Install the disc on the hub, aligning the marks made earlier.
  • · Install the caliper support bracket with the caliper and pads. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque (94 N*m).
  • · Depress the brake pedal two or three times to bring the pistons into contact with the pads, then install the wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque.
