Auxiliary heater

Testing quantity of fuel delivered

~1min read

Note Check fuel delivery rate as described in “Guided Fault Finding” function, vehicle diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.

Conditions for checking fuel delivery rate (in short):

Coolant temperature below 30 °C

Ambient temperature below 25 °C

Fuel tank sufficiently filled (needle on fuel gauge in dash panel insert is not in red zone)

Battery -A- (vehicle battery) fully charged

Fuel line (from fuel tank to auxiliary heater) installed according to specifications and filled completely with fuel Auxiliary heater installed completely and connected to vehicle electrical system All auxiliary heater fuses OK (according to current flow diagram) → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations

Auxiliary heater is switched off

Event memory of all self-diagnosis compatible systems read out; cause of any faults displayed in vehicle systems eliminated; displayed event memory entries erased, vehicle diagnostic tester in "Guided Fault Finding". Note A higher ambient or coolant temperature can lead to incorrect measurements of the fuel quantity delivered due to fuel evaporation. Complete description of conditions for checking fuel delivery rate vehicle diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode. If the quantity of fuel delivered is in the lower tolerance range and there are starting difficulties with the auxiliary heater, check the fuel lines to the auxiliary heater → Chapter. If no fault is found, renew the metering pump -V54- → Chapter.
  • Check fuel delivery rate of metering pump -V54-vehicle diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.
