GENERAL INFORMATION

On vehicles with a regulated catalytic converter, an exhaust leak upstream of the oxygen sensor can cause the following faults:

– Starting difficulties; the engine stalls, runs roughly at idle, and hesitates when the engine speed increases.

PROCEDURE

1. Start the engine and block the muffler outlet with a rag or plug.

2. Listen carefully to the exhaust system for leaks. If necessary, spray the connections cylinder head/exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold/front pipe with "Leck Sucher" and check for bubbles.

3. Repair the leak.
