• Insert the key into the lock (1) => fig. 209 of the knob.
• Unlock the tow hitch ball (turn the key towards the red mark).
• Hold the tow hitch ball firmly and pull the knob in the direction of arrow (A).
• Turn the knob to the pulled-out position as far as it will go, in the direction of arrow (B).
• Release the thumbwheel. It locks itself in the preload position.
• Pull the towing ball out of the mounting tube from below (1) => page 230, fig. 210. During this procedure, the cap automatically closes the mounting tube (2).
• Stow the towing ball under the load floor cover in the vehicle's luggage compartment.
• Flip the socket cover upward.

CAUTION!

• When the locking mechanism releases, do not place your hands near the locking pivot or the release pivot - risk of injury!
• Make sure the cap closes the towing device mounting tube properly. Otherwise, due to contamination, the towing ball may not be securely locked in the mounting tube.
