Clutch Release Mechanism Removal and Installation
A noise from the clutch release bearing when disengaged, i.e., when the clutch pedal is depressed, indicates that the bearing is damaged.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the transmission. Refer to the Manual Transmission and AT Removal and Installation section.
2. Remove the clutch release bearing (1) from the manual transmission input shaft. Remove the release lever (4) from the clip (5).
3. Check the clutch release bearing by hand. Lightly compress it and turn it. It should rotate easily. Otherwise, replace it.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean the lever and lightly lubricate the sliding surfaces (F) with Molykote Longtherm 2 grease.

3. Check the clutch release bearing by hand. Lightly compress it and turn it. It should rotate easily. Otherwise, replace it.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean the lever and lightly lubricate the sliding surfaces (F) with Molykote Longtherm 2 grease.

2. If the clip (5) and ball pin (6) are damaged, replace them.
* On the S6S 420G manual transmission, the clip and ball pin must always be replaced. The transmission type is indicated in the bottom line of the designation. The designation may be located in the following places: at the bottom center of the transmission, at the bottom of the housing, and on the transmission extension on the left side.

3. Clean the guide bushing (7). Do not lubricate the bushing with grease. Otherwise, the bearing may seize on the bushing.

4. Install the clutch release lever with the bearing onto the manual transmission input shaft and secure it with the clip.
5. Clean the sliding surfaces (2) of the bearing. Do not wash it with gasoline. The sliding surfaces (2) of the bearing must contact the sliding surfaces (3) of the lever. See illustration 4.2.

6. Install the manual transmission. Refer to the Manual Transmission and AT Removal and Installation section.
