Differences from conventional remote control

The comfort access function only duplicates the functions of the remote control buttons. Therefore, first read the opening and closing rules given starting on page 28.

The following describes features to be considered when using the comfort access function.

A delay in opening or closing the windows and sunroof may be caused by the system checking for the electronic key inside the vehicle. If necessary, open/close the windows and sunroof again.◄

Unlocking

Grasp the door handle, covering it fully with your palm, arrow 1. This action corresponds to pressing the button.

Locking

On the driver's door: hold your finger on the point marked by arrow 2 for approximately 1 second.

This action corresponds to pressing the button.

To conserve battery power, always switch off electrical consumers before locking the vehicle.◄

Comfort closing

Keep your finger or the back of your hand pressed to point 2. Comfort closing.

Opening the tailgate

Press the switch on the tailgate. This action corresponds to pressing the button.

If the electronic key is found forgotten inside the luggage compartment after the tailgate has been locked, the tailgate opens slightly again. The hazard warning lights flash and an audible signal sounds.◄

Switching on the Radio position

The Radio position is switched on by pressing the Start/Stop button.

Do not press the brake pedal, otherwise the engine will start.◄

Starting the engine

When the electronic key is inside the vehicle, you can start the engine or switch on the ignition without inserting the key into the ignition lock.

If the comfort access system does not detect the electronic key inside the vehicle, the engine can be restarted only within 10 seconds after it has been switched off, provided the vehicle doors remained closed.

Switching off the engine

► Key not inserted into the ignition lock:

after the engine is switched off, the transmission automatically engages position P.

► Key inserted into the ignition lock:

if position N was selected on the transmission, it remains selected after the engine is switched off.

Before Entering a Car Wash

The vehicle can still be rolled if the following sequence is observed:

1. Insert the electronic key into the ignition lock.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Select position N on the transmission.
4. Release the parking brake.
5. Switch off the engine.
6. Leave the electronic key in the ignition lock.
