Interference

Radio waves may interfere with the operation of the comfort access function. In this case, the vehicle can be opened or locked using the remote control or the mechanical key. To start the engine afterwards, insert the electronic key into the ignition lock.

The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up when attempting to start the engine – engine start is not possible. The electronic key is not detected inside the vehicle or is faulty. Make sure the key is inside the vehicle. If a fault is suspected, have the key checked at a BMW service center. Try inserting a different key into the ignition lock.

The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster remains lit while the engine is running – the system no longer detects the electronic key inside the vehicle. The engine can be restarted only within 10 seconds after it has been switched off, provided the vehicle doors remained closed.

The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up and a message appears on the control display – replace the battery in the electronic key.
