Seat Belt Care
To ensure proper seat belt performance, seat belts must be kept in good condition.
Seat belts must always be kept clean and dry. Keep seat belts free of contamination from polishes, oils, and chemical products, especially battery acid, bleaches, and dyes. These contaminants can reduce the strength of the seat belt webbing.
Periodically inspect all seat belt components. Replace damaged seat belts or anchorages immediately.
Seat belts that have been stretched as a result of a collision must be replaced, even if the damage is barely visible or not visible at all. Only new seat belts must be used as replacements.
We recommend replacing the entire seat belt assembly after the vehicle has been involved in a collision.
If a trained technician determines that the seat belts have not been damaged in the collision and are in working condition, replacement of the seat belts is not required.
