Sunroof

Anti-pinch

~2min read

The anti-pinch function protects vehicle occupants from injury when the sunroof closes.

The anti-pinch function is active when the sunroof closes in slide or vent mode.

Anti-pinch detection zone

The anti-pinch function is operational:

  • in vent mode over the entire vent zone,
  • in slide mode over the entire slide zone.

Pinch detection criterion

The anti-pinch function triggers for a force of 100 +/- 20 N above the force needed to move the sunroof. The anti-pinch function adapts to wear of the sunroof mechanism.

An initialisation allows this wear to be compensated.

Initialisation

STEP

ACTION

1 Set the sunroof switch to maximum vent position
2 Hold the sunroof switch until the sunroof has finished moving
3 Release the sunroof switch
4 Press the sunroof switch again within 5 seconds
5 Hold until the opening round trip is complete

If the initialisation cycle is interrupted, restart from step 1.

Note: Initialising the anti-pinch also initialises the software end stops.

Temporary deactivation

STEP

DESCRIPTION

1 Within 5 seconds after the sunroof stops following an anti-pinch action.
2 Set the sunroof switch to close position
3 Hold the sunroof switch until the sunroof closes

Temporary deactivation is only effective for the current closing cycle.
