Citroën C5 II light sensor
The light sensor (a) provides information representative of the ambient outside light level.
The light sensor consists of the following:
- upward-facing light-receiving diode to provide information on the ambient outside light level,
- forward-facing light-receiving diode to provide information on the light level in front of the vehicle.
The light sensor also provides infrared light information for the air conditioning system.
When automatic mode is activated, the ambient outside light level is compared with predefined thresholds in the BSI.
The light measurements sent to the BSI are used to identify the lighting environment: day, night, tunnel, passing under a bridge.
The low beam headlamps are automatically activated or deactivated accordingly.
