Xenon lamps with dynamic headlamp levelling
The vehicle may be fitted with xenon dipped-beam headlamps.
Advantages of xenon lamps:
- field of view doubled,
- better lateral visibility on winding roads,
- higher night-time lighting performance,
- improved visibility in dipped-beam position, without dazzling oncoming drivers.
Xenon lamps do not contain a filament.
The light from these lamps is generated from two electrodes in a quartz bulb containing a high-pressure gas (xenon).

Quartz bulb
A xenon lamp has a service life four times longer than that of an incandescent lamp.
The xenon lamp ignition system consists of:
- a D2R lamp,
- a headlamp incorporating the levelling corrector linked to the lamp ballast and the control unit.
Vehicles fitted with xenon lamps are equipped with dynamic headlamp levelling and headlamp washers.
Warning: The battery must be disconnected before any of the following operations:- removal / refitting of the xenon lamp system,
- replacement of a faulty lamp.
When the vehicle's attitude changes, the correction system keeps the beam aim constant relative to the initial setting made at the factory or in the after-sales network.
The correction system consists of:
- an actuator per headlamp incorporating a stepper motor,
- the control electronics located at the rear of the headlamp.
Note: A vehicle fitted with xenon lamps is not fitted with fog lamps.
AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION OF THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
The automatic hazard warning lamp function improves safety by automatically signalling sudden heavy deceleration or accidents.
The automatic hazard warning lamp function operates according to the following parameters:
- sudden heavy deceleration,
- impacts (triggering of a pyrotechnic element).
