AAS - Parking Aid

Functions

~1min read

The parking aid warns the driver of any obstacle within the detection zone.

The parking aid detects obstacles of minimum size at certain distances. The parking aid detects an obstacle if the speed between the obstacle and the vehicle is less than 3.6 km/h.

The frequency used by the parking aid (40 kHz) does not disturb animals.

Operating principle

The parking aid uses ultrasound emitted by the sensors. If an obstacle is present, the ultrasound bounces off it.

The parking aid ECU receives the signals from the sensors and calculates the time between emission and reception.

The ECU then calculates the distance and position of the obstacle.

The parking aid ECU modulates an electrical signal representing the distance and sends it to the rear buzzer.

Key:

H: minimum detection zone,

I: maximum detection zone.

Les performances de détection sont réalisées avec des tiges standards

Detection performance is measured using standard rods 75 cm high.

Example: an obstacle 1 cm in diameter is detected from a distance of 30 cm from the rear of the vehicle.

Minimum distances at which obstacles are detected, depending on their diameter.

Note: Parking aid performance is reduced if the bumper has been deformed or displaced.
