In the event of a severe side impact, the system increases the safety of the driver and passengers (except the center rear seat passenger), reducing the risk of injury to the side of the head.

The curtain airbag is built into the pillar and the upper part of the cabin.

Airbag deployment

The curtain airbag deploys simultaneously with the corresponding side airbag in a severe side impact affecting all or part of the side impact zone B, perpendicular to the vehicle's longitudinal axis in the horizontal plane and in the outside-to-inside direction.

The curtain airbag inflates between the window and the occupants of the front or rear seats.

Operating fault

If this warning light comes on in the
instrument cluster, an audible signal sounds and a message appears on the display, contact a CITROËN network dealer or a specialist workshop to have the system checked. The airbags may not deploy in the event of a severe impact.

The airbag may not deploy in a minor impact, a glancing blow to the side of the vehicle, or a rollover. The airbag will not deploy in a frontal or rear impact. Advice To ensure the airbags work fully effectively, observe the precautions below. Sit upright in a normal position. Wear properly adjusted seat belts. Do not place anything between occupants and the airbags (children, animals, objects...). Do not attach or stick anything near or in the path of the airbags, as this could cause injury when they deploy. Never modify the original configuration of your vehicle, especially in the immediate area of the airbags. If the vehicle has been involved in an accident or stolen, have the airbag system checked. Airbag system repairs must be carried out only by a CITROËN dealership or a specialist workshop. Even when all the precautions above are observed, there is a risk of injury or minor burns to the head, chest or arms when an airbag deploys. The airbag inflates almost instantly (in a few milliseconds), then deflates, releasing hot gas through special vents.Front airbags Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on its center. Passengers must not rest their feet on the dashboard. Do not smoke (cigarette, pipe), as airbag deployment at that moment could cause burns or injuries. Do not dismantle, puncture or strike the airbag. Do not attach or stick anything to the steering wheel rim or the dashboard, to prevent injury to front occupants when the airbags deploy. Side airbags Only fit approved seat covers that do not interfere with the side airbags. For a range of seat covers suitable for your vehicle, consult the CITROËN dealership network. For more information on accessories, see the relevant section. Never attach or stick anything to the seatbacks (clothing...), as this could cause chest or arm injuries if a side airbag deploys. Do not lean closer to the doors than necessary.

Curtain airbags Do not attach or stick anything to the roof lining, as this could cause head injury when the curtain airbag deploys. Do not remove the grab handles, if fitted, as the curtain airbags are attached to them.
