Outer Deflector Ring Removal. Remove the ring by tapping lightly with a hammer on a brass drift, then discard it.

PROCEDURE.

1. Secure the driveshaft 10 in a vise. Use soft metal or wood protective pads to prevent damage to the shaft.

2. Using a brass drift and a hammer, remove the deflector ring 1 from joint housing 2, as shown in the illustration. Discard the removed ring.

PROCEDURE.

1. Install the deflector ring 1 onto the joint housing seat.

2. Align.

the ring plane so that it is perpendicular to the axis of the joint..

2. Prepare a tool for installing the ring: a pipe section approx. 64 mm in diameter, an M20 x 1 nut and a steel plate with a hole. Screw the nut onto the axle shaft end and push ring 1 until it contacts the shoulder on the joint housing
