GENERAL INFORMATION.

Basic Safety Rules

Proper maintenance and repair are very important from the standpoint of

safe operation and reliability of the vehicle. This manual describes effective and correct procedures for performing all necessary

maintenance and repair operations on the vehicle. In some cases, the use of special tools and devices is required. These tools and devices

must be used strictly in accordance with the recommendations..

When working on electrical equipment where a short circuit is possible, disconnect the negative ("ground") battery cable. After reconnecting the battery, reset the clock, repeat the radio station presetting, and reprogram other electronic equipment in the vehicle. The above precautions are not exhaustive. Daewoo cannot,

of course, foresee in advance all possible technological

operations and hazardous situations that may arise during repair and maintenance of the vehicle. Therefore, before applying

any procedure or tool other than those recommended in this

manual, it is very important to make sure it is safe for personnel and the vehicle. The maintenance and repair procedures in this manual are described mainly for vehicles with left-hand steering. On right-hand steering vehicles, all procedures are performed in the same way (in

mirror image). The functions of the various vehicle systems and devices do not depend

on the steering wheel position. If there are any significant differences

for vehicles with different steering configurations, the manual provides the appropriate additional information.

General Repair Instructions

When using a floor jack, observe the following rules..

Park the vehicle on a level surface. Block the front or rear wheels to prevent

any movement. Place the jack under the body jacking point and raise the vehicle. Place rigid safety supports under the vehicle. Only after this may maintenance or

repair be started..

Before starting work, DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE

to prevent damage to the vehicle and injury from a short circuit.

Use protective covers to protect the body, seats and floor mats

from damage and dirt. Do not allow brake fluid and

coolant to contact the vehicle body, as they may damage

the paint finish..

Use only serviceable tools recommended in this manual. Do not reuse cotter pins, gaskets, O-rings,

lip seals, lock washers and self-locking nuts. Replace them with new parts when assembling components. Otherwise, normal operation of the components cannot be guaranteed.

To simplify and speed up assembly, store disassembled parts carefully in

separate groups.

Do not confuse various fastening bolts and nuts, as they differ in strength and

design depending on their installation location.

Clean parts before inspecting or installing them.

Oil system parts must also be cleaned and blown out with compressed air to

remove all contamination.

Before installing parts, lubricate sliding and rotating surfaces with engine oil or chassis grease.

If necessary, to eliminate leakage of oil or operating fluids,

use sealant together with gaskets.

Strictly observe the specified tightening torques for bolts and nuts.

After completing maintenance or repair, perform a final check to make sure all operations have been performed correctly and the

malfunction has been eliminated.
