Checking Suspension Friction Force
PROCEDURE.
1. With a helper, grasp the front bumper with both hands and lift the front of the vehicle, if necessary higher.
Slowly and gradually lower the vehicle until it reaches the static equilibrium position.
2. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper.
3. Press down on the bumper and lower the front of the vehicle, if possible lower. Then, slowly and gradually reducing the force, allow the vehicle to reach the static equilibrium position.
Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper.
4. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper. With normal suspension friction, the difference between the two measurement results must not exceed 12.7 mm.
If the difference exceeds this value, check the condition of the lower arm mounts, telescopic struts and ball joints.
