To move the vehicle when the transmission cannot be shifted out of PARK (P) (for example, with a discharged battery), the manual park release is available.
Perform the following steps to use the manual park release:
- Fully apply the parking brake.
- Remove the console storage tray.

- Remove the plastic cover under the cupholder using the access slot. Parking brake lever.
- Using a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool, feed the strap up through the opening in the base of the console.
- Press and hold firm pressure on the brake pedal.
- Insert a screwdriver into the slot in the center of the lever and release the lever lock by sliding it to the right.

- While holding the release latch disengaged, pull the release strap up and back to rotate the lever until it locks in the upright position. The vehicle is now out of PARK and can move. Release the parking brake only when the vehicle is securely connected to a towing vehicle.
To reset the parking brake:
- Slide the latch (at the base of the lever, on the rear side) rearward (away from the lever) to unlock the lever.

- Rotate the parking brake lever forward and down to its original position until the locking tab snaps into place to secure the lever.
- Gently pull the strap to make sure the lever is locked in its stowed position.
- Route the seat belt into the base of the console. Reinstall the Park Release access cover and the console storage tray.
When the lever is in the open position, the access cover cannot be installed.
