Normal Starting
Starting the Engine with the ENGINE START/STOP Button
The transmission must be in the PARK position.
Press and hold the brake pedal while pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button once.
If the engine does not start, the starter automatically disengages after 10 seconds.
If you want to stop engine cranking before the engine starts, press the ENGINE START/STOP button again.
NOTE:
Normal starting of both a cold and a warm engine is achieved without pumping or pressing the accelerator pedal.
Turning the Engine Off with the ENGINE START/STOP Button
- Place the shift selector in the PARK position, then press and release the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- The ignition will return to the OFF mode.
- If the shift selector is not in the PARK position, the ENGINE START/STOP button must be held for two seconds or pressed three times in quick succession while the vehicle speed is above 8 km/h before the engine turns off. The ignition will remain in the ACC mode until the shift selector is in the PARK position and the button is pressed twice to return to the OFF mode. If the shift selector is not in the PARK position and the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed once, the message "Vehicle Not in Park" will appear in the instrument cluster and the engine will continue to run. Never leave the vehicle unattended unless the shift selector is in the PARK position, otherwise the vehicle may roll away.
NOTE:
If the shift selector is in the NEUTRAL position, press and release the ENGINE START/STOP button while the vehicle speed is below 8 km/h to turn off the engine; the ignition will remain in the ACC mode. The system automatically determines the time to shut off, and the ignition will switch to the OFF mode after 30 minutes of inactivity if the ignition remains in ACC or ON/RUN (engine not running) and the transmission is in PARK.

- Start with the ignition in the OFF mode.
- Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once to place the ignition in the ACC mode.
- Press the ENGINE START/STOP button a second time to place the ignition in the ON/RUN mode.
- Press the ENGINE START/STOP button a third time to return the ignition to the OFF mode.
